There have been some recent changes to BISFed’s Referee Committee. Here is the news:

Firstly, we owe a debt of gratitude to Mary Knudsen who for personal reasons has retired from her International and National Referee officiating duties for BISFed and USA Boccia. Mary was first certified as an International Referee in 1993 and was an active Referee until the end of 2019. Some of the important competitions she officiated at were the Atlanta 1996 and Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. For the last two and a half years, Mary has also been the Chair of BISFed’s Referee Committee. Together with the other committee members she worked on several projects and amongst other achievements, created the International Referee Training Course Curriculum and the International Referee Procedures Manual. We would like to thank her deeply for her many years of dedication to boccia.

BISFed President David Hadfield said: “Mary stepped up to the role of Chair of the BISFed Referee Committee in 2017 in a time of need, and led the Committee in several important projects, including developing a process for assessing Referees during competitions. I am most grateful for her leadership and for the example she set. I am sure everyone will join me in wishing Mary a long and happy retirement.”

Following Mary´s retirement, Pam Johnston from Australia has been appointed as Chair of the Referees Committee, Jennifer Larson from Canada becomes Vice-Chair and the Committee welcomes a new member – Alex Lautherbach from Brazil who joins existing members: Teresa Calverol from Spain, Eleni Liloglou from Greece and David Leung from Hong Kong. We thank them all for the work they do for us.
