Egyptian athletes topped the medal table at the Cairo 2025 African Regional Championships.
Six Egyptians picked up gold medals and will qualify automatically for next year’s World Championships.
Tasneem Goda and Rahma Fayed led the way for the host nation in the BC1 and BC3 female events, respectively, while Hanaa Elfar ensured three of the four women’s individual categories went to Egypt when she won the BC4 title.
They were less dominant in the men’s competition with Samir Mostafathe solitary Egyptian gold medalist at BC3.
But Egypt then won BC3 and BC4 Pairs events to make it six gold medals in all.
Tunisia finished with three golds – for Maissa Jouini (BC2 Female), Amen Bemri (BC1 Male) and Achraf Tayahi (BC2 Male).
South Africa finished third in the medal tables with two golds won – for Thominic Von Schlicht at BC4 Male, plus the BC1/2 Team title.
It was Von Schlicht’s first appearance at the championships after a five-year absence.
