Further to the recent draft version of the BISFed boccia rules, we wish to provide an update on progress in finalising Rule 4.7.4 Ball Testing.

BISFed Members will be aware that we have engaged Loughborough University to advise us on ball testing. This project is in its final stages, and we expect to be able to announce a new test which will require each ball to be able to roll at least a specified distance when released down a standard ramp under its own gravity. Loughborough University are currently specifying the parameters of the ramp and we plan to be able to make the ramp available for purchase during February 2017. Rule 4.7.4 will also be finalised at this time.

BISFed has also decided to delay until the 2018 competition season the requirement for athletes who compete in sanctioned events to use an approved manufacturer’s balls.
