The newly-elected BISFed board met by conference call on Thursday 27th July. The Board meets regularly throughout the year and at the most recent meeting it was agreed that it would be helpful to communicate highlights of our discussions and decisions to our Members.

Highlights from the Board meeting on 27th July are:

  • BISFed Committees: the Board has reviewed the nominations for Committees by our Members. We had received 46 nominations from 23 different Members. There were more nominations than positions on each Committee, and selections were made having regard to knowledge and experience; regional representation (one Committee member from each Region, but not more than one per BISFed Member); and future succession. The new Committee members will now be informed and a general communication will follow.
  • BISFed Vice President: there having been no nomination at the recent elections, the Board has asked Martin Lam to fill the vacant role of BISFed Vice-President (in addition to his duties as Secretary General.) We are delighted that Martin has agreed.
  • Competition schedule: We have received bids for all the planned competitions in 2018 and have now agreed the majority of venues and hosts. An announcement of all the agreed venues and Host Organising Committees will be made on 1 September. The call for bids for competitions in 2019 will follow immediately.
  • Treasurer’s report: Jon Morgan was able to confirm that BISFed’s finances continue to be sound.

The next BISFed Board conference call is scheduled on Thursday 14th September.
