The 2014 BISFed World Championships is a little over a month away and preparations are almost complete and ready to welcome over 180 athletes from 30 federations from around the World. This will be the largest Boccia competition ever held and marks a significant point in BISFeds journey. Not only will it be a chance for athletes to compete  against each other for the right to be crowned World Champion but over 40 delegates from 30 federations will embark on the Chinese capital for the first BISFed General Assembly to discuss a host of important issues.

Since founding in 2012 BISFed have worked tirelessly to professionalise the sport and ensure that athletes have more opportunities between Paralympic games. One measure that has been taken to achieve this is to sanction more events. Ensuring that BISFed maintain control over the events that take place has meant that 8 events across 4 continents will take place in 2015, another BISFed record.

The BISFed World Championships will hopefully provide a springboard to boost participation at events throughout 2015 and applications for 2016 will open after the BISFed World Championships and BISFed General Assembly. We are working on improving the systems and procedures in place to make planning and hosting events as simple as possible for organisers with the hope that this will encourage many of our smaller federations to bid.
