Yan is the Man!
It’s time to conclude our look back at the Paris Paralympic Games by recalling the the final event of the tournament, the BC1/BC2 Team competition, which was won by China.
The Chinese team of Zhang Qi, Yan Zhiqiang (pic Raquel Gouveia) and Lan Zhijian had taken their country to the final for the first time and showed no inhibitions against Indonesia, who were also in their debut team final.
Some brilliant shot making from Yan, China’s captain, enabled them to surge into a 7-0 lead.
But the Indonesian team of Gischa Zayana, Felix Ardi Yudha and Muhamad Afrizal Syafa were not done.
They roared back in the fifth end with some brilliant play from Zayana, to make it 7-3.
In the final end, Syafa managed to deliver three points for Indonesia but China just about hung on to claim a 7-6 victory and their first team gold medal.
