Day 7

Mighty McGuire

The penultimate individual finals look-back to six months ago and the wonderful Paris Paralympics takes us to the men’s BC4 final, which was won by Great Britain’s Stephen McGuire (Pic: Raquel Gouveia).

The Scotsman – a 13-time British champion – was long overdue some Paralympic success and duly delivered in the final.

McGuire overcame Colombia’s Edilson Chica Chica, wearing his South American opponent down with relentless consistency.

It was an emotional triumph for the 40-year-old who had fought his way back to fitness after a broken leg and serious knee injury two years before.
