Responsibilities

Responsible for officiating the game fairly and in accordance with the bisfed competition rules

The role of the referee is vital in ensuring accurate results. Their duties start at equipment control prior to competition and end on court ensuring that players abide by the rules and the final scores are reported accurately.

Referees are supported by time keepers and line judges and overseen by Head Referees at all BISFed sanctioned events. Within the referee teams at these events are National Referees. In order to become an International Referee, referees must attend a BISFed course organises by the BISFed Development Committee. Check the Calendar for information on all courses and events.

The referee uniform shall consist of:

  • Shirt provided by HOC / BISFed
  • Black pants if the venue is climate controlled
    (If the venue is not climate controlled, black shorts or capris are acceptable)
  • Athletic shoes in plain, neutral colour (not brightly coloured)
